If someone is in immediate danger

If you believe someone is in immediate danger or a crime is taking place, call 999.

Raising a concern with The VC Gallery

If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of someone who attends, volunteers with, works for or otherwise comes into contact with The VC Gallery, please tell us as soon as possible.

Email admin@thevcgallery.com, call 01437 765873, or speak to a member of staff and ask for the concern to be passed to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

If your concern relates to a member of staff, volunteer or someone involved in managing the charity, you can still contact us and ask for the matter to be escalated to an appropriate safeguarding lead or trustee who is not directly involved.

What we will do

When a safeguarding concern is raised, we will aim to:

  • listen and take the concern seriously;
  • record relevant information accurately and securely;
  • take proportionate steps to reduce immediate risk;
  • follow our safeguarding procedures and relevant Welsh safeguarding guidance;
  • refer concerns to social services, the police or another appropriate body where necessary; and
  • share information only where there is a proper safeguarding or legal reason to do so.

We cannot promise complete confidentiality where information needs to be shared to protect someone from harm, but we will handle information carefully and only involve people who need to know.

Contacting social services directly

You do not have to report a safeguarding concern through The VC Gallery first. You can contact Pembrokeshire County Council directly if you are worried about a child or adult who may be at risk.

  • During normal working hours: 01437 764551
  • Out of hours Emergency Duty Team: 0300 123 5519

Our safeguarding responsibilities

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility across the charity. We expect trustees, staff and volunteers to understand how to recognise and report concerns, follow appropriate codes of conduct and complete training or checks relevant to their role.

This webpage is a public summary. The charity's internal safeguarding policy and procedures contain the fuller arrangements used by staff, volunteers and trustees and should be reviewed regularly.

Photographs and online activity

We take particular care around photographs, videos, personal stories and online contact involving children or adults who may be at risk. Appropriate permission should be obtained before identifiable images or personal information are published.
